Sunday’s Indian Premier League (IPL) game between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) didn’t end in a very exciting way, which made RR captain Sanju Samson sad. Samson’s team was winning until the final ball, when Abdul Samad hit a six on a free hit because the previous ball was a no-ball. This was a terrible loss for Samson’s team. The loss put RR in a dangerous situation because they will no longer be in the top four when they play their next game on May 14.
“I had a lot of faith in Sandeep.” He won us a game that was almost the same. “He did it again today, but that no-ball hurt us because it changed the score,” Samson told the reporters after the game.
“To tell you the truth, we all know that’s what IPL gives you.” This kind of match is what makes the IPL so great. “You can never, ever, ever feel like you’ve won,” Samson said.
RR was trying to protect a score of 215, and when Sandeep Sharma threw a dot ball on the last ball of the innings when SRH needed five runs to win, they thought they had won the game. But in a strange turn of events, the dot ball was called a no-ball, leaving RR in a vulnerable position. At the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, SRH got a big win when Sandeep’s planned yorker went wrong and he was hit for six with the last ball.
“It’s a no-ball, so you have to bowl it over again.” Samson said, “You don’t think about it too much,” when asked how he felt about having to gather his troops.
“Sandeep seems to know what to do.” But there might be a small shift in your mind for a few seconds when you think the job is done. Nearly everyone was having a good time.
“But that’s just how the game is.” At that point in the game, you can’t cross the line.”
The loss has put more pressure on RR because they will fall out of the top four when the Punjab Kings play the Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday. If PBKS wins, RR will be eliminated, and if either the Mumbai Indians (MI) or Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) win on Tuesday, they could drop as far as sixth place.
On Sunday, RR will play RCB at the business end of the IPL, when points will be more important than results.
