Shimron Hetmyer and Oshane Thomas have been recalled for India’s ODIs.

West Indies have picked up hard-hitting batter Shimron Hetmyer and fast bowler Oshane Thomas for the upcoming three-match One-Day International series against India. Following their recovery from operations, fast bowler Jayden Seales and legspinner Yannick Cariah have been added to the 15-man team, while left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie has also returned.

Injured all-rounder Keemo Paul was ruled out, and former skipper Nicholas Pooran and Jason Holder were ruled out.

Hetmyer and Thomas have been out of the West Indies’ ODI setup for some time, having last played in the format nearly two years ago. “We welcome back Oshane and Shimron to the group.” Both have experience playing at the international level, with some success, and we believe they will fit in well,” said head selector Desmond Haynes.

“Oshane adds pace and has the potential to take wickets with the new ball.” Shimron’s hitting style will provide a lot, especially in the middle of the innings, and he is also a potential ‘finisher.'”

Following the crushing disappointment of failing to qualify for the 2018 ODI World Cup in India, the West Indies will look to rebuild their 50-over game. The first two games of the series, which begins on July 27, will be contested at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, before the sides travel to Trinidad for the final ODI on August 1 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
