On Friday, March 31, the Gujarat Titans and the Chennai Super Kings will play in the first game of IPL 2023. The first match of the IPL 2023 season will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The upcoming IPL season will start a new era for the event. In India, two different channels will show IPL games for the first time since 2018. Star Sports network has the rights to show the games on cable TV, and Jio Cinema has the rights to watch the games live on its platform.
Jio Cinema has said that all IPL 2023 matches will be free to watch, so more people will use the site. In addition, the new broadcaster has revealed commentators for more than five languages, including several local languages.
Indians love to watch IPL series with Hindi narration. Fans have been amused by Hindi commentators like Aakash Chopra, Virender Sehwag, Ashish Nehra, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Kapil Dev, Arun Lal, Irfan Pathan, Jatin Sapru, and many more.
Most of the commentators on the Hindi panel are from India. This year, though, the two broadcasters had to put together two different teams, so they had to hire some foreign names to fill out their commentary panel. We look at two foreigners who will work in IPL 2023 as Hindi commentators.
- Imran Tahir Commentator For Star Sports:
Imran Tahir is a South African bowler who has played for multiple IPL teams. Tahir began his journey with the Delhi Daredevils. After that, he played for the Rising Pune Supergiant and the Chennai Super Kings. During his time with CSK, he was very effective. He won two trophies and the Purple Cap once.
For the current IPL season, Tahir is not on any team. For the IPL in 2023, he will be a Hindi pundit for Star Sports. Fans should know that Tahir was born in Pakistan, in Lahore. During the India vs. South Africa series in 2021–22, he worked as a Hindi pundit for Star Sports.
2. Owais Shah Commentator For Jio Cinema:
Owais Shah, who used to play cricket for England, is now a Hindi analyst for Jio Cinema. From 2001 to 2009, Shah played cricket for England on the international level. He batted in the middle of the lineup and could bowl off-break with his right arm.
Like Imran Tahir, Owais Shah was born in Pakistan. He has played for Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, and Kochi Tuskers Kerala, all of which are IPL teams. Owais Shah never won an IPL title, but he did make some great shots for his teams.
At this year’s IPL tournament, seeing how Owais Shah does in his new job will be interesting.
