WTC Final: Fans Rough Up Rohit Sharma For Eliminating The Number One Test Bowler R Ashwin

Rohit Sharma, the captain of Team India, won the toss and chose to bowl first against Australia in the final of the 2023 World Test Championship (WTC) on Wednesday at The Oval. Through the WTC final, both Rohit and Pat Cummins will have played their 50th Test match. The first team to win all ICC titles in men’s international cricket will be the team that wins the 2023 WTC final.

Rohit Sharma, who won the toss, said that India chose Ravindra Jadeja over Ravichandran Ashwin as their only spin bowler. Instead, they went with four fast bowlers: Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, and Shardul Thakur.

When India decided to drop the best bowler in the world in Test cricket, fans couldn’t keep their cool.

Ajinkya Rahane is also back on the Test team. He last played in a test in January 2022. KS Bharat is the wicketkeeper-batsman. “The conditions and the cloudy weather made it necessary to bowl first. Not much will change with the pitch.”

“He (Ashwin) has been a game-winner for us. It’s not a great time to leave him out, but you have to do what’s best for the team in the circumstances. Rohit said that Rahane brings a lot of knowledge because he has played in around 80 Tests.

Cummins said he would have bowled first as well, and he revealed that fast bowler Scott Boland will play his first Test in England because Josh Hazlewood is out with injuries to his left ankle and side.

“I hope there’s a bit of a spin on days four and five. You think it fits Boland’s bowling style, and he’ll be a key player. It’s been about 10 days since we arrived. ” “I’m feeling good, the weather has been nice, and we haven’t missed a session,” he said.

India, then headed by Virat Kohli, finished second in the maiden World T20 cycle after falling to Kane Williamson-led New Zealand by eight wickets at the Rose Bowl in Southampton in 2021.

With Rohit ready to skipper the Test squad on foreign soil for the first time, India will look to advance further in their second successive WTC final appearance against Australia at The Oval, which will host a Test match for the first time in June.

The prize money for the 2023 WTC Final is 1.6 million dollars, with the losers receiving 800,000 dollars.
