Virat Kohli showed again why he is still the best bowler by showing how good he is at chasing. Heinrich Klaasen hit his first IPL hundred in the first innings. In the second innings, Kohli hit his sixth three-figure score while chasing. This made him tied with Chris Gayle for the most centuries in this league, with six each. His innings also helped Royal Challengers Bangalore win the important “win or go home” match in Hyderabad by eight wickets.
Everyone, including fans, experts, former cricketers, and the “who’s who” of world cricket, praised the India legend. When speaking to the press, Kohli also gave himself credit for performing well under pressure and helping his team stay in the playoff race.
With Faf du Plessis at the top, the pair looks like it can’t be stopped. So far this season, they have put together more than 800 runs while batting at the top, which is the most of any opening pair in the history of the event.
Kohli is one of the top five run scorers in the IPL 2023, with 538 runs in 13 games. Virat said that the way people think about his stroke play doesn’t reflect his real effect and contribution.
“The way I’m looked at as an IPL player is like ‘yeah, he’s fine, has a few big knocks’. It’s my sixth hundred in the IPL. I put myself under so much stress that I don’t always give myself enough credit. I don’t care what people say about me when they see me. “That’s what they think,” Kohli said after RCB beat SRH by eight wickets in Hyderabad.
Kohli likes to play in an old-school way:
Kohli talked about how keeping true to his technique has helped him a lot in his career. He has won a lot of games for many different teams in many different formats. In this format, new players are trying and even winning with different types of shots. Kohli said that he doesn’t need to do anything fancy to do well; he just needs to keep doing what he does best.
“When you’re in that position, you know how to win cricket games. I’ve been doing that for a long time. “It’s not like I don’t help my team win games when I play,” Kohli said. “I’m proud of how well I play the situation. I’ve never seen a guy play so many fancy shots before. I also talked to Aiden Markram. We have to play all 12 months of the year.
“For me, it’s not about playing flashy shots and giving my wicket away. After the IPL, we’ll be playing Test cricket, so I have to stick to my method. “When I can make a difference in a big game, it gives me and the team confidence,” said the former captain of RCB.
Also, RCB is in fourth place on the points table with 14 points from 13 games, but it needs to beat Gujarat Titans in its final league game to finish in the top four.
